i've seen some awesome things happen around queen
at a youth club everyone was so inspired singing to queen that we agreed to start a band and noone played an instrumento hhahahaha
every brazilian i've met loves queen, an italian was arguing with me that italian music is nothing compared to english music with queen as his example

i remember a guy once said in a college "if everyone came out on the streets do u really think there would be war in iraq, people don't care about what's happening"
i realised then maybe he was right, protesting was banned from the streets also by the dictatorship and a bbc guy was murdered, so it wasn't that easy to fix

Meditations for Manifesting

I'll be honest with you - I'm a lousy meditator. For me, meditation falls into the

category of one of those things I know is supposed to be so good for me that

my "inner teenager" rebels against the whole idea of it.

One meditation powerful enough to mature my inner teenager ("maturity"

being defined as being willing to do what you want even if your parents want

you to do it as well :-) comes from India via Wayne Dyer - you can read more

about it in the book Manifest your Destiny (there's an excellent Nightingale-

Conant tape set as well!).

He recommends doing it every day for twenty minutes at sunrise and twenty

minutes at sundown. While I'm sure this is an excellent discipline, I've gotten

some pretty phenomenal results (money, new clients, acting work, etc.) doing

it erratically for as long as I feel like it whenever I happen to remember. Here's

how it works....

Morning Meditation

1. Breathe in with your attention on your perineum (between the front of your

bottom and the back of your bottom is about as nice as I can say it!)

2. Exhale on the sound "Aaaaaah" with your attention on your "third eye", the

point between your eyebrows. (That's "aaaaaaah" as in God, Father, Ja, Adonai,

and just about any other culture's name for God you can think of!)

3. As you do this, think about all the things you want in your life as if you've

already received them. (The better this feels, the better it works!)

4. Continue for as long as you like. Gradually get softer and softer until the

"aaaaah" is silent. Keep shifting your attention between the perineum and third

eye as you breathe, and maintain the feeling of already having what it is that

you want.

5. When you are ready, allow the "aaaaah"s to get louder and louder until you

are back to full volume.

6. Finish with the word "Sha-Lom", which is both the hebrew word for peace

and a combination of the sound of God ("aaaaah") and the sound of the

universe ("aum")

Guys, you need to be very much aware that humour is very ambiguous. It means a lot of different things to different people. A joke that's funny to you might be offensive to somebody else. People might not get the joke, or they might perceive it completely differently than you think they are. I think... an anthropologist I know of, he said that the last test of whether you know a culture well is your ability to tell and understand jokes in that culture.

Hello guys!
My name's Gustavo, aka "Guto", I'm 22 going on 23 and Brazilian.
To begin with, I think English is the most important language to learn at this moment, especially in the context of globalization.
I wonder, what's the most important English skill? What skill must you have to communicate well? I'd say it's fluency! What's fluency? Fluency is the ability to speak and understand a language quickly and easily, without translation. Fluency means you can talk easily with native speakers and that is our main goal here. I'm beginner like most of you and I'm here to exchange some experiences.
Luis is an excellent teacher, he's brilliant! I really like his method and his books. So, to have a good teacher like him is a good start. I'm so proud to be one of his students!
I think to be a fantastic English speaker, you must learn English with your ears, not just with your eyes, it's an ideology of a North American teacher. In other words, your ears are the key. The best listening must be understandable and repetitive, both of those words are important. You must hear a new word and new grammar many times before you'll understand them instantly.
Increase your learning time and also your listening time. Use iPod or MP3 player. Listen to movies. Guys, that way you'll learn English faster!
Another great idea is to read a good English dictionary that brings some slangs and most used expressions by natives and then your speech will sound like theirs. I do that and it really works!
Read them, make phrases, practise more and more. Your English will come along like mine.
You have tried the old ways, now it's time to try something new!

Just back from my business seminar in Milan, Italy, reminded me of something I include there, and then some, and thought I'd share it this month! It seems like a good time for it, especially in the current world economic situation. Some discussions recently have been centered around how much to charge for services, whether consulting, or others. This is not necessarily the place to start, as I discovered through the School of Hard Knocks, thankfully many, many years ago.

Back in the first days of my opening my consulting business, I had the opportunity to be introduced to the Vice President of a large company here in the US, who also happened to be interested in what I do with teambuilding, etc. Anyway, as I was leaving my house for the appointment, Kathleen asked me how much I was going to charge him and I replied, "I don't know." She said, "Come back in here and close the door." I did, of course, and she said, "You have to have a number in mind, you know," and I knew she was right (as she usually is). So I said, "Yes, dear. My good friend Charlie is a consultant and he gets $600 per day, so I'll charge that." In the mid 80's $600 per day was considered good as the average to good consultant goes. She said, "OK, good." And I took off for the appointment.

To make this one a bit short, in my just less than one hour drive, I kept giving myself increases for various reasons and by the time I got to the appointment, I was up to $1,200 per day, and thought, "Wow! That was easy!" I went to the person's office, introduced myself to his secretary and she said, "I'm sorry, he got tied up in a meeting and will be a while. He wants you to wait. I said, "Yes, of course," or something pleasant and immediately thought, "$1,400 a day. I'm not waiting for free!!"

He came around about a half hour later and we went into his office and "chatted" a bit before he asked me what I charged. I said, "$1,500 per day plus expenses." His replied: "That's all?" Well, I moved fast and said, "For the first time you use me because it's like an audition." (I was a musician in another time long ago). As I calibrated him carefully, he asked, "And how much is it after that?" I said, "2,500 per day plus expenses," held my breath, watched as he smiled, let my breath out as he said, "That's better. That's what the really good consultants are charging, anyway." He hired me for a day, checked me out, paid the $2,500 on a $1,500 invoice and gave me lots of business after that.

So where did I get the $2,500 figure from? Just pulled it out of my head based on what information I had up to that point, including his nonverbal cues.

What type or kind of people do you want as customers? There's a relationship, obviously, between the price, the time span of the project and their expectations based on their perceived value afterward. While this may initially seem complicated, it really isn't. People who are willing to pay more for something are already prequalifying themselves for you regarding the price and what they expect, or not.

When Kathleen and I first started doing public seminars here in New Jersey many years ago, we played with prices for a one day introduction program, a teaser that was well packed with great information, anyway. We priced from $100 for the day all the way down to FREE! That's right: FREE! And here's what we learned:

The more we lowered the price, the more people we got to attend the intro program!! Great, right? But the less people we got to sign up for our longer, higher priced seminar, which is why we were conducting the intro's, anyway. And as we got closer to "Free", we started getting questions like, "Are you providing lunch?" and on and on. So we raised the price, got more quality and more qualified people, less attendees in our intro's and more people signing up for the longer, higher priced seminars. And no questions about free lunch.

Most people who know me know that I "work" about 6 months per year, sometimes a bit more. People want to know why? I really say, "Because I can." But that's predicated on other things I realized when I first started out. The first thing was that I didn't want to work and travel 50 weeks per year as I was, and second, I wanted to qualify my corporate customers so that I'd have quality companies to work with.

So assuming that you have a quality product or service, why should you charge more?

First, you shift your market appeal from the shoppers to the buyers. Period. Shoppers shop, buyers buy. A store that is full of shoppers with a few buyers, isn't as valuable as a store full of buyers, and just a few shoppers. Shoppers are looking for the "bargains", the "deals". They'll be sure to tell you what so-and-so is charging, as if that matters. Shoppers often don't know what they want and when they do, it's usually then just the price. Buyers often know what they want and want it. Period. They will sort through their "higher quality" expectations, too.

Second, if someone else is charging more, the buyers want to know why. If it satisfies more of their criteria than the lower priced guy, they'll go for the higher priced item.

The next part of the pricing aspect is what you think your services are worth, or what you are worth as a resource commodity. When you think about it, even with so many seminars being priced low, doesn't it raise that question in your head? What does this person really think they are worth? Why would they charge so little? How do they pay their bills? How long will they be able to stay in business? I wonder if they know how many potential customers they may have lost?

I was asked once by a very good friend and mentor the following question during a seminar for consultants when it came to pricing: "What are you worth?" Answers from around the room included, "With what I know, I gotta be worth 2 million a year," "$750,000 with my skills,", etc. etc. Joe looked at us and said, "You're worth what you're making." The silence was deafening, the heartbeats, the sighs, the shifting in seats. And he said, "Go to lunch. See you all afterward."

hahaha, with some in depth knowledge of health, training and nutrition i realised it was Worth looking into

1. answer phone by left ear > left ear goes to right side of the brain where we make pictures instead of processing language thus its the least suitable ear to use

coffee does increase blood pressure thus making it ideal for waking up in the morning and keeping your job, losing your job would be worse for your health

3. pills with cold water?!?! no no, you should drink them with battery acid, or alcohol or coffee, or with no liquid and choke on the pill

5. oil = bad, i don't recommend you drink petrol from the station, however many oils are good for you, olive oil anyone?

6. if you have caffeine or alcohol or anything bad in the day then water helps flush your system, thus.... drink more water at night

7. mobile phones produce radiation, not the chargers, oh no, someone died from recharging their batteries, well it was her own fault, 10000000000000000000 people die from rechargable batteries everyday

8. the human body adapts to many things, wearing headphones for a long time is one of them, ask any deaf person who must wear a headphone, maybe keep the volume lower would have been a better suggestion

If there is something that always made me curious then its the worship of gods. I think that at some moment in time, somebody asked himself about the origin of everything and looked for a supernatural answer or explanation about where things originate. So he felt the necessity to believe in the existence of a superior power who was responsible for all the universe. He was expected to be beyond special, perfection itself… But, maybe others question the idea of a celestial being and can data be collected for this all ruling, all powerful figure as people begin to doubt its existence in the light of the unprovability surrounding it "(...) the word became a human being and, full of grace and truth, and lived amongst us" (John I, 14). Probably, the role of Christ in our history has been to show, through examples, that it´s possible to be a good person. I am not atheist, jewish, catholic, protestant or islamic… I am not sure what the origin of things truly is. it is that God created us? Or that, in fact, we created him?

(this is the most valued english qualification in the UK)
it depends what your purpose is, i believe cambridge fce is the best
